Utilitario-Minimalism Shines Bright in Stüssy’s First Fall 25 Release

Stüssy has released its latest seasonal collection, marking a welcome shift towards a refined, minimalist perspective on streetwear, spanning a harmonious first drop that speaks to an evolved state of the Stüssy brand.

The low-key rollout for Stüssy’s latest seasonal effort is representative of the stripped-back aura of the collection itself, where the brand has honed in on the most casual applications of the work and sportswear genres, with outlier influences scattered throughout, specifically pieces sporting loud patterns and aggressive colour blocking.

Loose tops are fully stocked, ranging from US football jerseys to two-tone hoodies inspired by vintage examples, plus what could arguably be the most tasteful iteration of Stüssy’s recurring Surfman Sweater to date — now available in a fisherman-esque mock-neck pattern made from a pigment-dyed merino wool /cotton blend knit, complete with the titular graphic inserted in a reverse-knit fashion across the back.

Stüssy’s use of special garment washes extends to the core selection of graphic tees and hoodies, which come in shades of pine, sherbet, navy, black, and natural. The brand’s staple Lazy tees and Basic Thermals are also replenished in short and long-sleeve variants, alongside a fresh delivery of the Matthew and Oxford button-down shirts.

Covering all bases with its first round of Fall 25 trousers, Stüssy offers seasonal washes of its New Classic jean cut, which, as its name suggests, features a timeless, mid-rise, true-straight cut, adorned with a swirly “S” embroidered on the coin slot and a leather “Stüssy” patch at the rear.

Stüssy has also dropped what appears to be a new chino style constructed from a dense cotton twill, alongside the lightweight, mesh-lined nylon Cordura Training Pant, which provides a seasonal alternative to the cult-favourite Nyco Over Trousers while still maintaining adequate levels of military influence.

The functional theme is driven home with the Utility Work Jacket — a piece comprised of “built tough” cotton canvas, drawn up in a perfectly boxy cut with no shortage of pockets and reinforced panelling at the elbows.

The outerwear category covers nods to both the classic and contemporary corners of the sportswear spectrum, manifested through a wool-bodied, leather-sleeved varsity jacket that switches between Stüssy’s “oval script” and “globe” motifs embroidered at the chest and back, and full and half-zip Warm Up jackets featuring the “stock” Stüssy logo printed at the rear.

Of course, there are also refreshments in the accessories department with new caps and belts, plus a surprise return of the shearling-lined Stüssy x Birkenstock Solana Slide from 2023.

The first drop from Stüssy’s Fall 25 collection releases today, Friday, August 15, available via the brand’s website and physical stores starting at 10:00 am local time.
