Continuing to fly the flag for unconventional sneakers with a twist, the newcomer partnership that is Brain Dead x adidas has revealed their sophomore outing will centre around the iconic Stan Smith.

adidas is the current player in a long line of shoe companies that Fairfaxian streetwear brand Brain Dead has worked with, achieving levels of success with their debut Bowling Shoe project equal to that of Brain Dead’s previous sneaker collabs with the likes of Vans, Asics and Reebok - not forgetting the stellar job Brain Dead is doing with the Oakley Factory Team.

For its latest creation with adidas, Brain Dead is sticking within the same time period that birthed its previous Bowling Shoe project, back when sportswear was largely still reserved for sports and Tennis legend Stan Smith had just become the face of the would-be iconic silhouette.

Not playing around too much with the classic shape, Brain Dead’s irreverent touch comes into play on the unstructured upper makeup that favours supple cowhide with grass-like heel counters that aim to mimic the freshly cut lawns of Wimbledon. Replacing the typical perforated three-stripes is an outline of Brain Dead’s logo, with more finishing touches on the tongue graphic and custom laces with branded aglets.

Releasing in limited quantities, the Brain Dead x adidas Unstructured Stan Smith will be available exclusively at Dover Street Market London this Saturday, July 6th.

A second physical release will take place the following day during Brain Dead’s takeover of London’s Cumberland Lawn Tennis Club.
