Jacquemus Delivers Three Updated Air Max 1s in Latest Nike Collaboration

Over his burgeoning career with Nike, designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has exhibited a knack for reinventing classic Swoosh silhouettes - first tackling the Humara LX, a shoe that combined the best bits of Nike trail running DNA into a duo of feminine colourways, before stamping his initial on the classic Air Force 1, again reworked to honour Nike’s reputation for innovation.
Jacquemus has all-but covered the core bases of Nike icons and now it’s time to play around with some big-bubbled air technology by remodelling the Air Max 1 ‘86.
At a glance, it appears that only the side Swooshes have been omitted but upon closer inspection, it’s clear that the silhouette has received a major overhaul to fit in with Jacquemus’ minimalistic, old-school athletic aesthetic.
What is usually a kinetic tick sat on the oblique sections of the Air Max 1 has been replaced with a metallic mini-swoosh that’s carried over from previous Jacquemus x Nike outings and although the three colourways vary in textile choice and palette, each adopts the seamless upper construction that ditches the AM1’s original panelling in place of a streamlined design that culminates with a stitched sock-liner at the ankle and pointier toe-box inspired by OG Nike runners.
Jacquemus’ angular approach to the Air Max 1 ’86 is further complimented by squared-off air bubbles, aglets and Jacquemus-branded hang tags.
The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 will be available soon via Jacquemus’ webstore. Retail price is €180.00 EUR.
