Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Auction Exclusive Shoe to Benefit Virgil Abloh Scholarship Fund

Ahead of the official release of the Spring Summer 2022 Nike footwear collection designed by Virgil Abloh, two hundred pairs of an exclusive style will be auctioned off at Sotheby's with proceeds benefitting Abloh's “Post Modern” Scholarship Fund.

The auction will run via Sotheby's from Wednesday 26th January to Saturday 8th February. The event is the beginning of a series of initiatives which will continue throughout the year marking the designer's legacy, in association with Abloh's family.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, a scholarship set up by Abloh in 2020 with a personal donation from the designer and contributions from partners including Evian, Farfetch, Louis Vuitton, New Guards Group and Nike.

The foundation supports the education of students of African-American and African descent in partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund association.

The exclusive shoe is constructed from calf leather featuring Vuitton’s signature Monogram and Damier patterns, with natural cowhide piping.

The shoe also features signature Virgil Abloh design touches including the Nike Air branding styled with quotation marks on the sole and the French word “Lacet” on the laces.

Each pair comes presented in a Louis Vuitton pilot case in LV monogram-embossed orange leather, with an orange leather 3D tag bearing a white Swoosh on top.

The full set will be exhibited in the lobby of Sotheby’s New York until the end of the auction period.

The rest of the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collection - originally revealed at the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer Menswear 2022 show - will officially launch following the auction exclusively through Louis Vuitton channels.

Abloh designed 47 different pairs of Nike “Air Force 1” sneakers for the Spring show, applying a rainbow of bright colourways and creative uses of the LV signature prints to the wide collection.

An exhibition of the full shoe collection will be staged by Louis Vuitton at a later date.

The Louis Vuitton Nike Air Force 1 by Virgil Abloh shoe auction will run via Sotheby's from Wednesday 26th January to Saturday 8th February.
