Pharrell Williams debuted his first collection as Creative Director of Menswear at Louis Vuitton last June at Paris Fashion Week and the response was divisive, to say the least.

Pharrell’s appointment came as somewhat of a surprise and caused discourse across the fashion world regarding whether Pharrell was the right candidate to top the seemingly insuperable late Virgil Abloh.

Pharrell’s deep ties to the streetwear scene courtesy of Bape, Billionaire Boys Club, adidas and Moncler are well documented, although fashion elitists were taken aback by the possibility that someone without a ’traditional’ design background could helm the great Louis Vuitton, despite the fact that Pharrell worked on the Millionaire Sunglasses with LV in the early 2000’s, later going on to deliver a fully fledged capsule with Chanel in 2019.

Now, over seven months later, the initial roundup of Pharrell-designed pieces are available and putting eye-watering price tags aside, the decadence associated with the world-renowned fashion house is well and truly alive.

As part of his freshman outing, Pharrell took the concept of bespoke luxury to a whole ‘nother stratosphere - not only with the Millionaire Speedy Bag, but also in the handcrafted $153k crocodile leather baseball jacket.

The piece is made-to-order and exudes a tangible air of unobtainability, likely only reserved for Insta-flexing rappers, Oil Sheiks And Oligarchs.

The vast heritage of Louis Vuitton is honoured through the Damier print that ties the collection together as a whole.

Many likened Pharrell’s interpretation of the 135 year old design to the same pixelated aesthetic favoured by Minecraft, and while some more traditional trunks and bags are available, it is the various “Damoflage” pieces that have people talking, especially with the $31k Mink jacket and $7.5k field coat - both of which can be neatly folded into your $68k Louis Vuitton trunk.

If million dollar duffle bags constructed from Croc’ flesh aren’t in your wheelhouse, cheaper variations of Louis Vuitton’s Speedy style are available. Priced at $9.3k (for the smallest), $11.1k and $12.4k, the bags come in green, yellow, red and blue monogram print, equipped with polished gold hardware and a soft lambskin lining.

Accessories like the skateboard and bowling ball retail at $2.9k and $6.8k respectively, with an LV-special take on the Ugg boot coming in at just under $2.5k.
