Action Bronson is turning his “coordinated chaos” talents to the world of horology through a new partnership with Casio G-Shock.

Queen’s own Action Bronson transcended the label of “underground rapper” some time ago, using the same singular approach he’s mastered in music to amass a creative portfolio that includes some of the hottest New Balance collabs in recent memory — and now a landmark collaboration with Casio G-Shock.

The maiden meeting between Casio and Action Bronson is also part of a wider push by Japan’s hard-wearing watch experts to strengthen its ties to the wider cultural landscape — officially revealing collaborations with Action Bronson, and now Nigo in the past week alone.

Casio has commissioned Action to create his very own vision of the G-Shock GA2100, dubbed the “Desert King” — a watch that, according to the parties, is “engineered for those who seek to discover the undiscovered”.

Nowhere near as polarising as Action’s past works with New Balance, the G-Shock GA2100 “Desert King” is an objectively tasteful undertaking of the ultimate “go anywhere, do anything” timepiece — still retaining all of the features that make it a beloved staple for watch enthusiasts world-over, including standard shock-proofing and 200M water resistance, plus the stopwatch, countdown timer, and alarm functions.

The case is built from Casio’s factory carbon material, overlaid with a translucent brown resin bezel that pairs effortlessly with the red accents on the day wheel and LED display. Bronson’s goal of creating a watch “made for tactical play” is underscored by the inclusion of a metallic protective lug guard, a custom canvas strap, and the central “graticule” dial motif — signed off with his “Baklava” moniker next to Casio’s logo on the engraved caseback and 3 o’clock dial position.

Priced at $200 USD, the Action Bronson x Casio G-Shock GA2100AB25-5A “Desert King” first releases via the specializinginlife website this Thursday, August 21, at 10:00 am EST.

A drop via the official Casio webstore is set to follow on Wednesday, August 27.
