Awake NY Drops Air Jordan 5 Collaboration + Coordinating Apparel

After months of teasers, leaks, and all-round anticipation, the latest Awake NY x Jordan collaboration has finally arrived.

Angelo Baque continues to lay the foundation for Awake NY to live up to its potential as one of modern streetwear’s greats with their new Air Jordan 5 release, teaming up with Nike’s basketball arm for the second time following their snake-print Air Ship collaboration from March 2024.

Awake NY has unveiled two renditions of the Air Jordan 5, alongside a curated range of apparel that, under the direct oversight of Baque, pays homage to New York City and all five of its boroughs.

The shoe itself, which comes in “Pink” and “Racer Blue”, honours the Big Apple with “NY” embroidery at the outer heel, joining Awake NY’s primary initial on the mid-foot netting as the standout overhauls to the fifth-generation Jordan design.

Awake’s love letter to the “city that raised us” flows over to the coordinating apparel, where a ’90s-inspired aesthetic is paired with images of NYC’s skyline to once again salute the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.

As revealed to Complex, Baque has even listed all five of NYC’s boroughs on the underside of the AJ5’s box, positioned next to a stack of every Awake NY logo variation — details the Jordan brand has never previously sanctioned in any of its collaborations.

The core range of thermal tops, tees, hoodies, and headgear is elevated by a duo of custom jackets produced by Vanson Leathers, designed to complement each of the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 colourways. Baque builds on Vanson’s iconic skeleton appliqué motif with Awake NY patches at the shoulders and an enlarged “globe” graphic at the rear.

The Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 “Pink” sold out immediately after its exclusive release at Awake NY’s physical store on Sunday, August 17.

The “Racer Blue” colourway is scheduled for a wider release on Saturday, August 30 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. Retail price is set at $230 USD.
