New Balance x Stone Island Present All-New 991v2 Collaboration

Stone Island has played an integral role in adding value to New Balance’s ever-growing rolodex of strong collaborators and following the success of last year’s 574 collab, it was only a matter of time before the two regrouped to deliver another banger lifestyle model.

Stone Island and New Balance have since worked on the futuristic Fuelcell C_1 - a design that took full advantage of NB’s most recent technological advancement with a comfort-focused construction and knitted upper.

The duo’s previous outing was another excursion in performance and to celebrate 10 years of collaboration over what will be six releases, Stoney and New Balance’s shared passion for a high quality product returns to the lifestyle column while also marking the maiden voyage of the 991v2.

The 991v2 is the second generation of New Balance’s premier Made in the Uk model and updates the 991 for the first time in 20 years with a more rotund toebox, redesigned midsole and general streamlined remodelling of the overall shape.

The most major update comes in the FuelCell midsole, which imbues the 991v2 with an elevated level of comfort.

Introduced in 2017, New Balance’s FuelCell sole technology was originally destined to change the running game and while that feat was easily accomplished, the innovation has since found its way into lifestyle models such as New Balance x Stone Island’s previous outing and the Made in USA newcomer 990v6.

Of course, the above greyscale rendition will release in good time but for now, we have to make do with a fine example of footwear collaboration from New Balance and Stone Island.

Official images show a black sole unit and nubuck uppers offset by olive latticed mesh, an all new stitched 991 logo at the heel, tonal laces & lining and Stone Island’s compass calling card left on the tongue and outsole.

The New Balance x Stone Island 991v2 will release on October 4th at Stone Island’s online and physical stores with a retail price of around £250 GBP.

A global release follows at the usual retailers on October 18th.
