One of the more surprise hits of sneaker collaboration to pop up last year was Action Bronson’s duo of New Balance 990v6’s. The partnership made perfect sense due to Bronson’s blue collar background and eccentric approach to life, that when paired with NB’s unmatched sneaker craftsmanship, propelled the sixth generation 990 silhouette to cult status through two equally colourful renditions.

Since then, Action has appeared in numerous visual campaigns for New Balance and akin to fellow company man Salehe Bembury, has now officially unveiled the next chapter in his ongoing story with New Balance, taking on the 1906r.

Already a popular shoe for New Balance in 2023, the company is doubling down on its commitment to the archival runner for the year ahead, with Action Bronson’s Rosewater and Scorpius versions helming the ship.

Starting with the cloud-like Rosewater edition, Action has stripped back a portion of the 1906r’s exoskeleton to project light mesh with translucent reflective detailing, all complimented by a fuchsia heel cage and tongue and a sunset orange midsole.

According to Action, this colourway is one for the “true sneakerheads” and is inspired by women’s sport shoes of old.

The Scorpius colourway was first seen in June 2023, when Action performed during Paris Fashion week wearing the yellow/ green kicks. A clearer image recently shared by Action shows a detailed look at the shoe, which includes various neon shades, amongst a suede toe cap, grey midsole and pink rope laces.

A third iteration (name TBA) has also been spotted on the feet of Mr. Bronson and looks to take on a blue colour scheme with reflective panelling throughout. All three colourways feature a special edition tongue tag with Baklava signatures and retro 1906r typeface.

Expect more details to surface on Action Bronson’s upcoming work with New Balance on the run-up to April, when the shoes are rumoured to release.
