Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 “Baklava” Release Details

Action Bronson is a man of many talents and monikers.

The Queens-born rapper started out as a chef before moving into the hip-hop world and has since etched his name into the annals of pop culture through nutritional programming, enthusiastic performance, the occasional fashion excursion and a recent stint as a Pro Wrestler on AEW - with one unwavering constant being a passion for sneaker brand-de-jour New Balance.

New Balance is often heralded as the working man’s shoe of choice and is a fitting partner for Bronsoliño, who comes from the streets and is really ‘outside’ in the jungle we know as sneaker culture.

Anyone who follows Action on Instagram will be familiar with his gruelling workouts, which are often made bearable with a pair of 550s or 990v6’s on foot - the latter of which sets the stage for the upcoming Baklava x New Balance collaboration, which is a culmination of many years in the game and perfectly encapsulates the organised chaos that is Action Bronson.

The shoe is the most colourful rendition of New Balance’s sixth generation sneaker to release so far and takes design cues from utility and workwear with brightly coloured sections that are meticulously thrown together in a way that just works. 

The blue sole lays the foundation for Carhartt-esque suede mudguards, alongside softer brown tabs and neon mesh covering the uppers. Final flashes of purple and persimmon reside on the heel section with a grey shade-shift on the eyestay, tongue and lining. Bronson’s signature is left on the “baklava 990v6” tongue tag.

Designed in conjunction with the great Teddy Santis, a collection of henley’s, fleeces, caps and a ripstop anorak will also be dropping as part of the touted collaboration, coming in another wide array of colours that match the energy of the Baklava 990v6.
