adidas SPZL Celebrates 10 years with END Exclusive “By the Sea” Capsule

Coming together for the sub-label’s ten year anniversary, adidas SPZL is teaming up with fellow European mainstay END clothing for a shoe and apparel capsule that pays homage to an idealistic vision of the traditional British seaside down.

Often a place of respite for town and city folk, England’s coastline is a reliable source of escapism and fresh sea breeze and anyone who visits will be hard pressed to find a local who isn’t donning some adidas terrace clobber.

Even though END has its own ever-growing vault of adidas collaborations, this is the first time the mega retail haunt will team up with Gary Aspden’s adidas SPZL line.

Sharing its title with the legendary handball silhouette, SPZL is adidas’ vehicle for focusing on the terrace niche it has championed since the 1980’s, where it still remains today as the go-to footwear choice for European football fanatics, taking the German-engineered base present across adidas’ design language and translating it into something that makes you proud to be British.

Heavily influenced by the aforementioned niche, adidas SPZL is notorious for bringing back archival styles.

Complete with its trademark Cordura uppers and pigskin suede overlays, the Moscrop 2 SPZL sneaker returns in a sandy colourway, taking cues from the adidas Raider with its lightweight upper section, while the shoe’s rugged two-layered sole unit nods to adidas’ Infinity model.

The Wilsy SPZL returns in a green-tipped, chalky white palette, with nubuck uppers that are punctuated by tonal mesh panels, offering a vintage sportswear aesthetic through a contemporary lens.

Showing love to one of adidas’ hottest shoes in recent memory, the collaborative Samba Deco SPZL presents an understated update to a definitive sneaker. Deep blue pigskin suede is boosted by the colourful input of seaweed green leather stripes, where the padding-less stitched toebox introduces a modern subversion to the Samba’s lauded design.

The clothing portion of the capsule consists of seven one-off designs, included co-branded short sleeve tees, two choices of hat styles, a knitted polo top, plus a sandy-coloured two piece that puts a formal-leaning spin on the tracksuit with a collared jacket and matching, darted trousers.

The centrepiece of END & adidas SPZL’s clothing lineup is Calavadella jacket rendered in a vibrant ’tribe green’ recycled polyester fabric. Named after an idyllic cove in Ibiza, the jacket pays homage to adidas SPZL’s DNA by honouring the Spanish island’s prominence in the rave scene that subsequently played a significant part in the core ideals behind the SPZL brand.

Complete with a removeable hood, the jacket features four bellow pockets, a drawstring waist and adidas SPZL’s instantly recognisable woven brand patches to the chest and wrist.

END x adidas SPZL’s “By The Sea” collection is available via early raffle entry now, on END’s website. A general release will follow on Friday, August 9th.
