Adidas has begun its foray into the fascinating world of NFTs through a four-party collaboration alongside crypto investor Gmoney, Bored Ape Yacht Club and Pixel Vault’s "PUNKS" Comic.

Those behind the partnership posted a series of cryptic images exhibiting a series of Adidas-branded digital characters hinting at a possile NFT release to follow in the near future, however there are no further details of what the collaboration entails.

This follows a series of Tweets from the sportswear giant over the past two weeks, teasing their first steps into the Metaverse.

This follows a series of Tweets from the sportswear giant over the past two weeks, teasing their first steps into the Metaverse.

First, they announced the launch of a POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) system for the Adidas Confirmed app in which a select few users were offered digital tokens as a way of signifying their loyalty to the brand. Again, the details are foggy but, to quote Adidas:

This token proves you were here from the beginning of this journey. Keep it safe — it may come in handy.

Which could mean they’d be useful in gaining special access to upcoming releases…

Adidas then staked their claim to a virtual plot of land in the fast growing world of “The Sandbox” - a community driven platform, loosely based on games like Minecraft and Roblox, that allows you to build your own world, buy, sell and even create original NFTs.

Before teasing their possible NFT-based collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gmoney and Pixel Vault, Adidas took to Twitter to announce yet another meta-versal leap, this time with one of the biggest crypto exchange platforms - Coinbase.

Although it’s “probably nothing”, the recent activity of such a widely recognised brand like Adidas should tell us that the crypto & NFT boom is only just beginning, and certainly one worthy of attention.

See you in the AdiVerse…
