adidas x Blondey McCoy “A.B GEMINI” Gazelle Release Information

Besides being a bonafide British skate legend, Blondey McCoy can smash the hell out of a collaboration - proving multiple times that adidas Gazelles and Superstars are superior when it comes to functional skate shoes, now stepping up to bat for the supposed final time with le Trefoil to release a new colourway of the ‘A.B. GEMINI’ Gazelle Indoor.

All of Blondey’s previous adidas kicks have sported either dark or transparent uppers, which hide skate related scuffs rather well but in his latest outing, a clean white ripstop dresses the majority of the shoe that when tied to the Oxford-inspired glossy tabs, adds an air of class to the born-to-be beat silhouette.

The model itself is a contemporary update to the classic adidas Gazelle Indoor - which was originally intended for off-pitch activities, also acting as a homage to the Beautiful Game that has long been admired by Mr. McCoy.

Taking to Instagram to wax poetic on the inspiration behind the shoe, Blondey stated: 

“Mine might be the last generation of skateboarders to whom football felt off-limits. And when I say off-limits, I mean like the polar opposite, along with just about everything else deemed properly popular. It seemed to me that if you skated, that was all you did. That and make art, maybe. Anyway, this, I suppose, is why I think skaters wearing the type of gear that typically belongs to the masses can be, ironically, so interesting. Empowering even.”

Embracing his love for skating and football has resulted in dark green stripes plastered on the chalky construction, with patent tabs and gold foil branding on the sidewall and heel. The gum rubber sole seamlessly lends itself to sports halls and skate haunts alike and when paired with the OrthoLite® sockliner, maximum comfort is provided, whatever the activity.
