Carhartt WIP x New Balance 990v1 Official Release Date

When it was first teased a few months ago, the prospect of a New Balance x Carhartt linkup left streetwear heads clamouring for more details surrounding the release, despite not knowing what the collaboration actually entails - will it be as underwhelming as Carhartt’s previous partnerships with Nike and Converse? Or will the collaboration hit that sweet spot of Carhartt’s unwavering approach to workwear with the patriotic spirit that is ingrained in New Balance’s DNA.

Luckily for us consumers, the latter is true, as just a few hours ago, Carhartt’s WIP branch unveiled the collaboration, setting up shop on the first 990 to ever hit the shelves, keeping in line with the brands’ aligned ethos of timeless quality.

The 990v1 arrives in a fuzzy blue suede construction, detailed with flashes of silver and grey mesh underlays. Carhartt branding sits on the tongue, with a beige sockliner setting the silhouette up as a contender for even Teddy Santis’ New Balance run.

Besides the starring kicks, a selection of pigment dyed sweats and tees all bear “Sculpture Centre” motifs, referencing the collaboration’s gym-centric muse, which carries over onto a beanie and water bottle that will come in handy when you’re pushing those max rep sets at the local iron house.
