King of the moodboard game Hidden.ny has transcended the confines of “professional reposter”, now working regularly with the same brands they support on Instagram, resulting in some of the more sought after niche collaborations with the likes of Needles, Salomon, Casio and even the legendary N.E.R.D.
After a well deserved gap-year from footwear collabs in 2023, Hidden.ny is back for the year of the dragon to release their debut outing with Asics.
The collaboration works on the Gel-NYC, which is a fitting choice for a Hidden.ny’s freshman effort with ASICS, considering the brand’s home base and affinity with New York street style.
Akin to Hidden.ny’s white whale Salomon XT-4, this version of Asics Gel-NYC largely adopts a clean white colour scheme, offset by silver tabs and fresh green accents, garnished with details relating to Hidden.ny’s “work in progress” identity on the subtly pixelated mid foot logo and “h” insignia on the outer heel, outlined to appear as if it’s being edited in real time. A final graphic design trope lands on the right heel in the form of a ‘transparent’ grid.
The Hidden.ny x ASICS Gel-NYC will first be available at a physical pop-up in New York on Saturday, March 23rd. An online release date is yet to be publicised.
