New Balance and Levi’s are set to work together for the first time since 2021, taking on the recently revived 580 silhouette.
When the famed jean maker first linked up with its countryman two years ago, we were treated to greyscale takes on the MADE in USA 990v3 and 992 that stuck to NB’s palette of choice while incorporating upcycled elements from Levi’s vast archive of vintage denim.
It’s fair to say that New Balance’s MADE in USA line is doing just fine without another collaboration and in their latest venture, NB and Levi’s are sprucing up a duo of MT580’s.
The 580 launched as a Japan exclusive in 1996 and birthed a plethora of flash colourways that echoed the on-street culture at the time and were welcomed with open arms due to the trail hiker-wrapped chunky aesthetic which has now circled round to one of today’s top trends.
Levi’s has approached the silhouette with synth-wave colour choices such as purple, pink and electric blue, which are offset by beige and grey bases. The same fabric you’d fine on a pair of 501 jeans compliments the brighter hits on either pair - with an obligatory Levi’s tag on the outside.
Expect an official announcement on the release in the coming weeks.
