Loro Piana x New Balance’s Debut Collaboration Costs $1.5k USD

Considering the success New Balance has found through its ongoing collaborations with Miu Miu, it was only a matter of time before the Bostonian running firm delved deeper into luxury territory.

Earlier this year, rumours circulated that New Balance would be linking up with Loro Piana - the foremost name in wool and cashmere supply for the world’s biggest brands and thanks to leaks and information from Complex, we now know that New Balance x Loro Piana is officially confirmed.

Alongside supplying the likes of Aimé Leon Dore, Supreme and hundreds of other contemporary and heritage brands alike with fine materials, typically reserved for suiting, Loro Piana also operates as a staple of the “quiet luxury” market, stocking everything from wardrobe essentials to statement leather goods and footwear.

Now lending the same artisanal approach to functional New Balance kicks, Loro Piana’s maiden collaboration with New Balance will centre around the 990v6 model.

The made in USA 990v6 will be reworked to include some of Loro Piana's Pecora Nera wool, which comes from an elusive strain of black-coated merino sheep that have been kept alive thanks to a specialist breeder in New Zealand.

Early imagery gives a behind the scenes look at the process involved in making the Loro Piana x New Balance 990v6, showcasing an even greater level of care than that of New Balance’s mainline, domestically produced range.

The collaboration is expected to begin releasing via select locations on September 5th. Apparently limited to just 1000 pairs, the retail price is confirmed at $1,500 USD.
