Major League Baseball has partnered with Takashi Murakami to design a limited edition merch capsule for the 2025 MLB Tokyo Series that’s set to kick off later this month.

Complex and Fanatics are responsible for bringing Murakami and MLB together, taking advantage of the MLB Tokyo Series to celebrate Baseball’s lasting cultural relevancy in both Japan and America, especially at a time when stars like Shohei Ohtani are commanding $700 million dollar deals and the viewing & attendance figures are at record highs across global markets.

The renowned Japanese contemporary artist takes the lead on a fleshed-out collection of apparel and accessories that reworks game-standard MLB fare to feature Murakami’s playful art style.

The capsule consists of tees, hoodies, collectible jerseys and New Era Caps, alongside baseballs and gloves produced by Rawlings, Bats from Victus and slides from Murakami’s EVA footwear brand Ohana Hatake.

The 2025 MLB Tokyo Series will commence with two games between the Chicago Cubs and L.A Dodgers - the latter of which is home to main attraction Shohei Ohtani, who will no doubt be drawing huge numbers when the show takes place from March 18-19 at the Tokyo Dome Stadium.

Making sure to score point across all areas of collectible memorabilia, the collaboration will also introduce limited runs of Topps Trading Card sets, including a highly covetable dual autograph card signed by both Murakami and Ohtani.

The Takashi Murakami x MLB collection will be available online via Complex, Fanatics and MLB websites this Friday, March 7th at 14:00 EST.
