Moncler Drops Latest Genius Capsule Designed by Jay-Z

As part of its ongoing Genius series, where Moncler invites various high profile names to interpret its 72 year heritage through respective creative lenses, the brand is now teaming up with none other than Jay-Z for the debut Moncler x Roc Nation capsule collection.

The collaboration is explicitly labelled as “designed by Jay-Z” - which is commendable when taking into account Hov’s trade as a pure rap singer and the result is rather impressive. Co-branded tees and sweatshirts come as standard in core palettes of black, white and grey however, as with any Moncler project, it is the selection of nylon-faced down jackets that act as the real meat and potatoes. 

The Centaurus bomber jacket takes clear notes from the puffy-chested mythical beasts of the same  name with its rotund appearance that’s elevated even further via a luxe embossed crocodile print. Coming in true black and a swampy green, the jacket features double zippers and an arm pocket with the Moncler x Roc-National badge just above the left cuff. 

The bright orange lining is a nod to formative bomber styles worn by professional aviators and airmen.

Compared to its capsule-mate, the Antila Down Jacket is a tame example more attuned to the usual fare adopted by Moncler, taking on a cocoon-like shape in matte black and pale cream colour choices, with a divergence in finish on the shiny hood interior that spills onto the outside.

A similar format is followed on the Apus gilet that’s cut to a boxier fit with a stowable hood, again coming in black, plus a rare splash of colour with the bright orange.

Final outerwear styles include the reversible shearling-lined coach jacket, reworked to fit the parameters of “car coat length” in addition to another bomber style that can be swapped between supple leather and shiny nylon, down-filled faces.
