Nike Teases the Return of the “Wu-Tang Clan” Dunk High

Nike just took to its Instagram account to tease the return of the highly coveted “Wu-Tang Clan” Dunk High.

The Wu-Tang Dunk Highs are up there with some of the most elusive sneaker releases in history. It’s been confirmed that only 100 pairs were produced when the original Wu-Tang Dunks dropped in 1999, with an even split of stock being shared between Nike executives and the legendary rap collective.

The prototypical version is a slight modification of the 1985 “Iowa” Dunk High that released as part of Nike’s formative “Be True to Your School” pack. Considering how well the 1985 pair’s palette aligns with the Wu-Tang Clan team colours, the ultra-limited 1999 release only required the addition of Wu-Tang emblems at the tongue and outer heel to solidify it as pure, unadulterated “rare air”.

Pairs of the Nike x Wu-Tang Clan Dunk High have since sold for upwards of $30,000 USD.

In the teaser, Nike shrouds the shoe in a swarm of “Killa Bees” as a nod to the name given to accredited contemporaries of the Wu-Tang Clan.

At the time of writing, no further details are known, however the teaser suggests we will be treated to a 1-1 reissue, should the legendary pair finally see a wider release.
