Nike x Concepts Air Max 1 SP “Mellow” Release Info

Nike and Bostonian sneaker freaks - Concepts have a litany of collaborations under their joint belt. From Sbs to basketball shoes, their most notorious (and expensive) collab was the highly coveted Nike Dunk Low “Lobster” pack. 

Always willing to push the boundaries with their collaborations, creative director Deon Point has not wavered from this goal with their latest Air Max 1 rendition, paying homage to the swinging 60s has resulted in a miscellany of prints and fabrics.

Starting from the bottom up, beige canvas mudguards sit below what can only be described as a printophile’s wet dream. We’ve got denim, paisley, cow-hide, floral and striped swooshes, tribal collar prints and smidgens of corduroy and velour. The design is tied together with small details like the guitar pick hangtag and the frayed stitching, seen on the toe box and heel. 

Although there is a lot going on, there is no question as to the originality of the design. The innovative nature that still pays homage to the society Nike grew up in is fitting, considering the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 1 is imminent.
