Omega and Swatch are back with another wearable glimpse into the great beyond, re-enlisting the iconic cartoon beagle Snoopy to create the MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase “Moonshine Gold”.

The latest effort from the MoonSwatch team reconfigures some of the most sought-after elements from the brands’ previous releases into one detail-filled, 42mm, quartz-powered package.

Updates include gilt-applied decals and two special functions that display the positions of Earth and the Moon, topped off with another cameo from Snoopy: the beloved children’s character who, akin to Omega, has his own ties to celestial exploration.

For over 50 years, Snoopy has served as NASA’s safety ambassador, also lending his name to the “Silver Snoopy Award” that’s given to individuals and organizations for outstanding achievements in human flight safety and mission success.

In 1970, the Silver Snoopy was awarded to Omega, following its essential contribution to bringing the crew of Apollo 13 back home safely.

Styled after Omega’s own high-horology example originally worn on the wrists of NASA’s daring first astronauts, this version of the MoonSwatch possesses the same base chronograph function, now featured alongside the innovative “EARTHPHASE” complication introduced by Swatch that shows how Earth appears when viewed from the Moon.

This runs in reverse to the Moonphase indicator, which displays two Moonshine Gold-coated depictions of the moon — one that nods to the aesthetic of Snoopy creator Charles M. Schulz, and another that, in accordance with the Sturgeon Moon (the full moon set to appear during August), is decorated with a net-like pattern.

Snoopy and his co-pilot Woodstock can be found sitting beneath the watch’s Earthphase plate, which when exposed to UV light, glows in a celestial blue, also revealing a hidden message that reads “I beat everybody”.

The above details are wrapped in an exclusive deep blue case constructed from Swatch’s proprietary Bioceramic material, paired with a matching rubber strap and finished with an engraved mission statement on the caseback and Earth-inspired battery cover.

The MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase “Moonshine Gold” is available in limited quantities starting Saturday, August 9, dropping exclusively in-store at select swatch boutiques across the globe.

The watch retails at $400 USD.
