Palace Skateboards is going back to its roots in its latest Summer ‘25 release, joining forces with Sci-Fi Fantasy for a good old fashioned “by skaters, for skaters” drop that exhibits both firms’ penchant for surreal graphic imagery.

Sci-Fi Fantasy is a true-to-form skate brand founded by industry legend-turned photographer and all-round creative Jerry Hsu. Recognised amongst skaters for his time as a sponsored rider for Enjoi and Chocolate during the early 2000’s, Hsu holds a nostalgic place in the hearts of skate fans world-over for his innovative and technical on-board style, alongside his involvement in iconic skate videos such as Enjoi’s Bag of Suck and Stay Gold by Emerica.

Hsu founded Sci-Fi Fantasy in 2017 as a way to channel 90’s nostalgia mixed with subtle corporate parody into laid-back skate gear that has since earned the brand collaborations with Vans and now, Palace Skateboards.

A partnership between a cult skate brand that’s not afraid to experiment with its artistic direction and Palace Skateboards, whose irreverence knows no bounds, makes total sense - a sentiment shared by Jerry Hsu, who gave the following insights into his debut Palace collab:

“As a fan of Palace since the beginning, I was ecstatic for the opportunity to work together, I wanted to bring in our 3D work, particularly the Asian urban motifs and tech influences we often play with,”

“I love the new Tri logo, it’s my favorite piece in the drop. Sci-Fi Palace and Palace Fantasy? Couldn’t be easier.”

The artwork in question features on coach jackets, tees, trucker and standard 6-panel caps, plus two boards that again feature the recurring “Email” and special “Tri” graphics created by Sci-Fi’s in-house 3D wizard Jon Baken.

The capsule’s lookbook was shot and directed by Hsu, who also created a short animated video to accompany the release.

The rest of Palace’s Summer ‘25 Week 4 release introduces the Atom, Happy Palace and Spaced graphic tees, alongside a new P3 hoodie variant and the Ventilate It track jackets and matching shell joggers, which feature zip-able panels for (you guessed it) maximum ventilation.

The Palace x Sci-Fi Fantasy collab and accompanying week 4 release drops this Friday, May 30 via Palace online and in-store channels, including the brand’s concessions at Dover Street Market in London, Tokyo and Los Angeles.
