Sacai x Nike Zegamadome Finally Gets Official Release Date

Picking up where they left off in 2023, Nike and sacai have reunited to revolutionise outdoor footwear once more - this time drawing on different eras in Nike’s on-trail lineage to create a new vision for the future - dubbed the Zegamadome.

The Zegamadome name blends two silhouettes taken from key periods in Nike’s ongoing experimentation in the realm of outdoor footwear.

The prefix is derived from Nike’s Zegama range of trail-specific running shoes, which are celebrated amongst fans for their Zoomx sole technology and practicality-driven design that still holds aesthetic appeal.

The latter half of the “Zegamadome” moniker comes from the Nike Lava Dome - a silhouette released by Nike in 1981 as its first foray into outdoor footwear that has since birthed a dynasty of hiking-centric styles, essentially acting as a precursor to the ACG sub-label we all know and love today.

Returning in spirit and corporeal form for sacai’s latest project with the Swoosh, characteristic “Lava Dome” features like rubber reinforcements are integrated with a modern Zoomx midsole, mixed with synthetic forefoot panelling and suede uppers to create a singular design that ticks all the boxes for both familiarity and innovation.

Calling cards of a Nike x sacai collaboration are left with the double-eyelet lacing system that now includes a quick-access toggle, plus double-upped Swooshes and the brands’ melded logos applied at the tongues.

The Nike x sacai Zegamadome will launch in three colourways: “Matte Silver/Tour Yellow,” “Black/Anthracite Black,” and “Summit White/White.”

The release will begin with a Japan-exclusive raffle through sacai on May 9.

A broader release via Nike SNKRS is expected in the coming weeks.
