Release Details for the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 1906r “Heat Be Hot” Pack

Salehe Bembury has now officially revealed the release date for his latest project with New Balance - titled “Heat Be Hot”.

The red/ blue “Magma” and silver/ orange “Lava” colourways will both be available on January 11th at 09:00 am PST on beaspunge.com.

One year on from Salehe Bembury’s last guest outing with New Balance, the designer has officially teased his latest venture with the Bostonian sneaker brand - working on two *hot* 1906r’s, set to drop in the new year.

With Teddy Santis fully settled into his position as creative director of NB’s lifestyle-oriented Made in America line, Bembury, who played an important role in the brand’s revival, is tackling an icon of New Balance’s running heritage.

The latest effort from Salehe’s residency at New Balance first came to light at Paris Fashion Week, when the designer was spotted on-road sporting the red/ yellow version and seven months later, we now have a full view of the New Balance 1906r “Heat be Hot” pack.

Both designs appear as if they’ve been captured through the lense of a thermal imaging camera, with the respective silver/ orange and red/ blue colour schemes showing a gradient across the mesh uppers. Pre-worn midsoles are evocative of beaten running shoes, where the shiny tabs and the overall loud palettes call on the same designs popular in 2009, when the 1906r first released.
