Snoopy Joins Omega x Swatch for latest Moonswatch Release

In the next chapter of its ongoing Moonswatch series, Omega x Swatch has unveiled a new iteration of its coveted Bioceramic chronograph, this time in a clean white colour scheme with updated functions and assistance from iconic character and NASA mascot Snoopy.

After already covering 11 of the planetary bodies in our solar system, Omega x Swatch are switching things up for the latest addition to their collaborative family with a new release that takes design cues from Omega’s own “White Side of the Moon” Speedmaster chronograph.

Much like Omega’s sought after high-horology example, this more affordable version possesses a white case and dial, offset by the hands, markers and tachymeter-scaled bezel that are finished in a contrasting black. A first for Omega x Swatch, the timepiece also boasts a Moonphase function that shows the position of the moon, exactly as it appears in the sky at any given moment.

Considering the Omega x Swatch Mission to Moonphase’s deep ties to space exploration, it was only right that Snoopy came along for the ride. For over 50 years, Snoopy has acted as the safety ambassador for NASA space programs and has also lent his name to the “Silver Snoopy Award” that is given to individuals and organizations for outstanding achievements related to human flight safety or mission success.

In 1970, the Silver Snoopy was awarded to Omega, following its essential contribution to bringing the crew of Apollo 13 back home safely.

Snoopy can be seen on the watch’s Moonphase plate, that when shone under UV light, glows in a celestial blue, also unveiling a hidden message that reads “I can’t sleep without a nightlight”.

Retailing at $310 USD, the Omega x Swatch Mission to Moonphase will be available at select Swatch stores on Tuesday, March 26th.
