Sotheby’s Host 8-Lot Auction of the Nike x Off White Dunk Low "Futura Laboratories"

In recent years, Sotheby’s auction house has become something of a haven for the rarest kicks out there, hosting sales of 40-lot collections of Air Force 1’s alongside Nike’s outing with Louis Vuitton, which ended up achieving a total of $25 million USD and most recently, auctioning off 12 exclusive pairs of Notorious B.I.G Jordan 13’s.

If their past exploits didn’t make it obvious, Sotheby’s is a big fan of Nike - so much so, that they’re hosting yet another Swoosh sale, this time putting up eight pairs of Off White x Futura Laboratories Dunk Lows, with an aim to benefit the Virgil Abloh Foundation in its mission to provide scholarships to the next generation of “Ablohs” - that would otherwise be without opportunity to pursue their desired careers. 

The shoes in question were revealed during Off White’s SS20 runway show in Paris, where the dunks stole the spotlight through bright colours and subtle design input from artist Futura, resulting in graffiti stylings over the quarters and toe boxes, swapping between blue and orange leather overlays and overlacing on the respective colourways.

In a statement from Virgil’s Wife Shannon Abloh:

“The ‘Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories’ Dunks were so special to Virgil, not only for their role as an anchor piece of the SS20 collection, but as a symbol of collaboration and creativity, two principles he always prioritized,”

The Nike Dunk Low "Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories" will be available in eight separate listings, ranging in sizes 5-12, each estimated to fetch minimum of $2k USD by the time the auction ends on April 15th.
