ORIGINAL ARTICLE - 30/10/2024:

Stüssy x Mountain Hardwear are back for Winter 24 to consummate their partnership that began this time last year, switching the climbing muse for ski slopes and in turn, implementing Gore-Tex must haves to see tribe members through the chilly months.

With rumours circulating that Stüssy’s renowned collaborative series with Our Legacy has ended, the latest capsule with Mountain Hardwear will be a pivotal moment for the brand as they face the gorpier side of streetwear, after ruling refined interpretations for so long.

Stüssy x Mountain Hardwear is a commitment to the latter’s embracive approach to outdoor gear that doesn’t discriminate between Sunday dog walkers and black diamond slalom heads. The hardy, function-first essence of Mountain Hardwear has served the outdoor community since 1993 and not unlike most gorp mainstays, always focuses on its products’ technical appeal as opposed to trendy aesthetics.

Taking into account Mountain Hardwear‘s lowkey brand personality, collaborations are rare and after the sell-out success that befell last year’s capsule involving two of California’s finest, the roadmap is simple - allow the field expert to do most of the legwork, while Stüssy simply underscores the branding elements and adds influence in the colour and fit department, resulting in a functional capsule that epitomises modern gorp culture.

Deducing from campaign imagery, we can expect down jackets, technical graphic base layers and toques, alongside purpose-built backpacks and Gore-Tex salopettes that can be paired with a range of jackets that are also “guaranteed to keep one dry af“.

Stay tuned for a better look at the collection, ahead of the drop this Friday, November 1st.

The Stüssy x Mountain Hardwear collection will be available via Stüssy.com.
