THAMES MMXX.Bring Francis Bacon's Work to Life in Exclusive Collection

Founded by pro skateboarder Blondey McCoy, THAMES MMXX. have worked with the estate of artist Francis Bacon on an exclusive collection of apparel and skate decks incorporating several of the artist's works, releasing this week.

Covering pieces including a work jacket, viscose shirt, hooded sweatshirt and graphic t-shirts, the collection features select paintings from Bacon's career, inspired by creative director Blondey's great esteem for the artist and the distinct quality of his work:

"I have caught myself standing in front of fucking great paintings, not wholly incapable of appreciating them, as such… but always, always noting the voice in my head saying, “it’s great, but it’s not Bacon”.

The THAMES MMXX. x Francis Bacon collection deploys a selection of the raw and visceral imagery used throughout Bacon's work, drawn from five of his paintings:  Study from Portrait of Pope Innocent X by Velázquez (1959); Two Figures Lying on a Bed with Attendants (1968); Self-Portrait (1969); Oedipus and the Sphinx after Ingres (1983) and Chicken (1982).

The collection also includes a beach towel, printed booklet covering Bacon's life and works art-directed by Blondey plus a run of 100 hand-numbered skateboard decks.

The booklet will be produced in a limited run of 1,000 and will be included for free with the first 250 orders.
